Barriers to Exports from Low to High Income Countries

I wish to add a few things here. There is an organization called OPEC (Oil Producing and Exporting Countries) who is doing the oil exporting. In this region, we have a mechanism for those who grow and produce rubber. We need to work harder with our partners. Cambodia is holding its rotating chairmanship. There is also one other initiative I started since 2005 in the framework and to attract attention of the ACMECS countries on issue of setting up a rice exporting countries (REC), in which Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar are members. In addition to the prepared text, Samdech Techo Hun Sen made impromptu comments on a few issues as followed:

Marriage Park

I wish to bring up a few things in relation to tree planting. Some of you may have remembered that I have initiated what is called the marriage park, where trees are to be planted when people get married. The first of its kind was conducted in Kraing Yov commune, which has then replicated to other places. The movement has been in place for a while. It seems to have neglected now. I wish to see the movement come back. At various tourist destinations, we should encourage newly married couple to plant tree. Our problem is action is taken when I mention about it and it dies down when I do not recall.

Biggest Hydropower Station So far

Today, I am so pleased to be able to join with our people to put into official use the 338 MW hydropower station of Russei Jrum Kraom – the biggest hydropower station we ever built so far. We used to put into official use the power station of only dozens of MW power. Today, we have a 338 MW power generation station which, for us, is a big scale of power station. As for China, on their Yangtze River, they built one of tens of thousands of MW. In 2018, we hope to have another hydropower station ready and it will produce up to 400 MW.
