Today, my wife and I are delighted to participate with Oknha Chairman of the Highest Council for Islamic Religious Affairs in Cambodia, Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, Imam, Tuon and Islamists from all over the place, national and international distinguished guests in the Islamic Feast of Breaking the Fast. This ceremony underlines the attention of the Royal Government of Cambodia to Islam and Islamists as well as other religions aimed to enhance benevolence and closeness between Islamists and followers of other religions as well as national and international leadership. Overall, this has brought about solidarity, warmth and harmony throughout the country.

Today, I am delighted to attend the launch of the “National Disability Strategic Plan 2014-2018 and the celebration of the 5th Anniversary of the Law on Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”. This event offers us an opportunity to understand latest disability-related developments and review the progress to date to identify work to be done and shortages for the cause of ensuring the basic rights of persons with disabilities, creating more opportunities for them, facilitating their participation in socio-economic development without barriers and discrimination, and enabling them to live on equal footing and equal rights in the society.

It is my great pleasure today to preside over the opening of the 2014 Cambodia Outlook Conference on the very timely theme of “Cambodia the Next Five Years – Reform and Competitiveness in an Integrated Region”. This is the eighth occasion on which I have had the pleasure of delivering the opening keynote address in this outlook conference. I wish to once again congratulate CDRI and ANZ Royal Bank on their initiative in hosting this important annual conference, which brings together officials from the Royal Government, and senior representatives of the private sector, the research community, non-government organisations, and international development partners to consider Cambodia’s achievements, the challenges we face, and how we can work together to overcome those challenges for the benefit of our nation.
